What are Chakras?
This is a question that I am frequently asked so through this article I hope to shed some “light” on the topic.
The word CHAKRA comes from Sanskrit (an ancient & sacred language of the Hindus in India) and means ‘wheel’ or ‘vortex’. There are seven major Chakras in the human body and they are openings through which Universal Energy, also called Chi or Prana, can flow in and out of the Aura.
It is important to keep the Chakras open so that they can process the finer Universal Energy from our environment and send it along energy rivers called Nadis, to our Nervous System, Endocrine Glands and Blood to nourish our bodies.
The lives we lead and the foods we eat can interfere with our wholeness and create imbalance. If Chakras become stagnant, blocked and start to malfunction, the flow of energy to organs and tissues in closest proximity will be disrupted and may eventually lead to illness.
Each Chakra has a different frequency, colour and sound, and each provides lessons to be learnt in specific areas of our lives. They are also associated with various major glands of the Endocrine System (endocrine glands produce hormones, extremely powerful chemical substances, which regulate processes throughout the body) and a malfunction of a gland can throw the whole body off balance.
The functions of the Chakras are to absorb, process and distribute Universal Energy for physical, emotional, mental & spiritual functions.
Reiki/Natural Healing uses the healing art of “laying on of hands’ on the Chakras . A Reiki session opens the energy centres, enabling a person to connect with and receive essential life force. They will draw on just the right amount of energy that they require to re-establish health and balance in their lives and help maintain it. Vibrational energy enhances and accelerates healing and promotes self-understanding and self-revelation.
